Less is More # 325 - Stripe

Hello there! It's so lovely of you to pop by.
Are you ready for another Less is More challenge? We have a fun recipe this week with scope for lots of creativity.

http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.pt/

As usual the rest of the design team have some incredible cards to share with you over at the challenge blog (and usually a few more on their personal blogs too) so please pop over to see them.

We also have another fab guest designer joining us - TaeEun. Her card is gorgeous so I hope you pop over to see her too.

I've had a really busy week last week so I only have 2 cards to share with you this time.

1) Jasmine texting

I think this is a brilliant image for all teenage girls. I can see I will use it a lot with my granddaughter and step-granddaughters! I managed to get stripes in on her skirt and a couple around 2 edges of the card blank for good measure.

STAMPS: Lili of the Valley Jasmine-Phone, Happy Little Stampers Mix Mash sentiments
INKS: Archival black, an ages old Papermania red ink
OTHER: White card, Watercolour paper, watercolour pencils, tiny gem, striped washi tape, red pen (for the dots)

This one is for the following challenges (in alphabetical order):

Addicted To Stamps #146 - Not a square card
Crafting When We Can #142 - One for the girls
Dream Valley Challenge #154 - All about the hair
Lemon Shortbread #39 - Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Splash it on (Watercoloured the image)
The Crafty Addicts Challenge #35 - Anything Goes with optional add a sentiment
Through The Craftroom Door - Week of April 19 - Anything Goes

2) Quickie Stripe Card

Here's one of my 5 minute cards and it is a fantastic one for using up those little scraps of paper. The strips were stuck onto a thin piece of paper and that was stuck directly onto the card blank. So it's a really flat card for posting too.

That's what I like....fast, few supplies and inexpensive to post!

STAMPS: Hero Arts - Irreverent birthday messages
OTHER: White card blank and scraps of card in white, black, lilac, pale blue and pastel green, small piece from a double sided adhesive sheet, black ink.

I'm entering this one into
Cards in Envy - Pretty Pastels
Ooh La La Creations #226 - Anything Goes
Crafty Creations #339 - Anything Goes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, that's it from me this week. Thank you so much for stopping by.
Hope you find the time to join us in this fun challenge this week!! Can't wait to see what you do with the recipe.

Less is More # 324 - Spring Walk

Happy Easter!
It's so lovely to see you today.

Are you enjoying the spring break? I do hope the weather is being kind to you.
Hopefully you are all cramming in lots of crafting time over Easter and maybe you will have time to join us in the next fun Less is More challenge?

http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.pt/

This week our lovely guest designer is the talented Wendy from Pink and Dotty blog. Please pop over to her blog as she has made a beautiful card for this challenge inspiration. Also there is some fab inspiration on the challenge blog from the rest of the design team for you to look at.

I have 3 cards to share again today,
(even though I have had a very, very hectic week I managed a bit of crafting time for these).

So let's take a look.

1) Spring butterfly

One of the things that comes to mind when I hear or see the words 'Spring Walk' is, from the perspective of when I lived in the UK, a vision of fresh green leaves and buds. This vision is now coupled with lots of fancy butterflies that I see here in the Algarve. So I joined the two visions into this card.
A quick and simple card with stencilling, a die cut butterfly and heat embossed vellum.

STAMPS: Concord & 9th Butterfly Beauty Stamp Set
STENCIL: Imagination Crafts leaf swirl
DISTRESS INKS: twisted citron, mowed lawn, scattered straw
OTHER INKS: Marvy Blending Blox shades of orange, versamark clear
OTHER: WOW! Opaque bright white embossing powder, scrap of vellum, smooth card

The Crafty Addict #35 - Anything goes /  Add a sentiment
Crafty Creations #339 - Anything Goes
Inkspirational #132 - Spring

2) Spring Flowers

Another thing I think about for spring walks are the spring flowers and blossoms, so these little images of a Nellie enjoying flowers came to mind.

STAMPS: Lili of the Valley elephant trio,
DIES: Sizzix Thinlets Tim Holtz Alterations celebration words script
EMBOSSING FOLDER: Sizzix - sorry it has no name on it!
DISTRESS MARKERS: Spun sugar, tumbled glass, mustard seed, hickory smoke, cracked pistachio, mowed lawn, lucky clover
OTHER: White card, blue card, water brush, 3d foam pads

I'm entering this into
Crafty Gals Corner #118 - Pastels
The Sisterhood of Crafters - Stamp It
Addicted to stamps and More! #237 - Make Your Mark

3) More spring flowers

Here is another card using the same stamps. I wanted to create a cartoon feel on this one so I coloured with Promarkers in block colour without any shading. I also wanted glossy tiles and a bit of bling so I encapsulated some glitter into the clear embossing.

STAMPS: Lili of the Valley elephant trio, Sweet Dixie big sentiments
INKS: Versamark clear, Memento Onyx Black
COLOUR: Promarkers, picket fence Distress Marker (the spots on the pink card
OTHER: Linen card, pink card, quickie glue pen, crystal glamour dust, clear embossing powder, ClarityStamps dots stencil, ribbon, 3d foam pads

This one is for
I Love Promarkers Challenge #332 - Embossing
Crafty Girls Creations #35 - Anything goes
Always fun Challenge #1 - Anything goes

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Right, that's it from me. I'm off to make the most of the weekend in my craft room now ;-)

Hope you do join us this week.
Thanks so much for stopping by.

Less is More #323 - OLC Curve

Well, hello there! Lovely to see you!

Are you ready for a one layer challenge? I am beginning to really look forward to one layer week at Less is More now. Hope you are too.  The rest of the design team have heaps of inspiration for you so please do pop along and take a look at their cards. This week we have the lovely Dawn from Auroracrafts joining us as guest designer and she has made such a pretty card so please head over to her blog to take a look and leave her some love.

http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.pt/

I have 3 ideas to share with you today for incorporating a curve into your OLCs.

1) Cut a curve in the front of the card.

I've had this Lili of the Valley image for ages and I use it a lot in my cards for little boys. I thought I would give this one an outing as Lili of the Valley are sponsoring us this month and the curve on the image sparked the idea to cut a curve in the front of the card. As it is spring I've added a few spring flowers in the grass and some blossom on the tree with liquid pearls for interest.

Unfortunately, photographing the card from this next angle made the liquid pearls look fuzzy!

STAMPS: Lili of the Valley lazy afternoon, WOW! Just sayin' stampset41
INKS: Memento onyx black
OTHER: White linen card, pale green card, colouring pencils liquid pearls, dinner plate (used as a template to get the curve shape)

I'd like to enter this one in at:
Ike's World Challenges #85 - Anything goes with a twist of In The Garden
The Crazy Challenge #245 - Bingo - I used green &  brown with grey on the paper.
Crafty Cardmakers #185 - Spring into spring

2) Curve the sentiment (and highlight it!)

This is one of my quickie cards to make and it uses very little supplies too!

I simply curved part of the sentiment on an acrylic block and stamped it onto kraft card. Then, instead of adding a shadow to the letters I used a white pencil to add highlights instead. Finished with a simple white pencil line border.

STAMPS: Happy Little Stampers - bold birthday sentiments
INK: Versafine vintage sepia
OTHER: China White pencil, Ruler and kraft card.

I'm popping this one in at:
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday - Happy Birthday (CONGRATULAYIONS ON YOUR 8th BIRTHDAY SSSWC!)

3) Stamp images in a curve

Here I have taken one of the smaller butterflies in the stamp set and stamped it multiple times in curves in different colours. Ha! now I have looked at this again I could have made a rainbow with this stamp!!

STAMPS: Concord & 9th - butterfly beauty stamp set (I'm LOVING this stamp set!!)
DISTRESS INKS: seedless preserves, dusty concord, wilted violet, shaded lilac, milled lavender.
OTHER: smooth white card.

This one is for:
The Card Concept #70 - Purple Haze
Inky Chicks #81 - Use Purple

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I really hope you have time to join us this week as it would be super to see how you interpret the curve theme.

Thanks so much for popping by.

Hugs,

Less is More #322 - use 3 pastels

Hello friends! Here's hoping today finds you all happy and well and raring to go with the next Less is More Challenge.  It's week one of the month (crikey - that's another month flown by!) so that means it is colour week and we have a new sponsor for the month.

 Disclaimer

Once again I have 3 cards to share.

1) Happy Flowers

I've seen several cards like this around blogland, Pinterest and Instagram so I thought I'd get some old peg stamps out and try the technique in pastel shades of yellow, pink and sage green. It was great to see how fast this one came together. Think I'll make a few cards like this in different colour ways to keep in my stash.

STAMPS:Habico Tropical flowers peg stamps, Birthday sentiment from Hero Arts Irreverant birthday messages.
INKS: VersaColor in pink and sage and a Marvy blending blox for the lemon.
OTHER: White Linen card, 3d foam pads, letters cut on ScanNcut.  I cut 4 of each letter and layered them up stamping on the top letter only.

This card is for:
Crafty Cardmakers #185 - Spring into Spring
Incy Wincy Designs - Happy Birthday

2) Pastel Butterfly

This card uses smudged distress crayons.

My camera decided that it didn't really want to pick up the white embossing on this card which is a shame because it looks lovely in real life. I will really have to take some photography lessons, won't I?

STAMPS: Concord & 9th Butterfly Beauty
DISTRESS CRAYONS: Spun sugar, squeezed lemonade, tumbled glass
DIES: Dienamics Inside out stitch rectangles stax.
OTHER: Versamark clear ink, Personal Impressions opaque white embossing powder, smooth white card, 3d foam pads.

With that one I'm heading over to:
Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge - Things with wings
Make My Monday #42 - White embossing
Crafty Creations #338 - Anything Goes

3) Baby Balloon Basket with Blanket and Bows!

Phew! There are loads of "B's" there for one of the challenges that I'm entering this into.

Here I've used a beautiful image from our sponsor this month simply coloured with colouring pencils. I love using colouring pencils because they give so much texture on linen card or paper (as you can see on this card) and they are very cheap to buy and replace!!

These are three colours I would never normally put together, but they work so well for a gender neutral baby card - a great one to have in your stash.

STAMP: Lili of the Valley Balloon Basket
OTHER: Linen card, colouring pencils, quickie glue pen, crystal glamour dust ( added on the border on the card blank for a splash of sparkle), 3d Foam Pads.

I'm popping this card in at:
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Anything Goes
Crafty Friends Challenge - B is for.........(on my card B  is for BALLOONS, BASKET, BLANKET, BOWS and BABY!!
As You Like It - Favourite colouring medium (and why)
